In a bid to reform the education system in the
country, Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal is planning to
scrap the Class 10 board examination. Sources say the minister said the
examinations are a source of trauma for both parents and students.
"There has to be an alternative system other than exams," Sibal said.
According to the minister, since the students continued in the same
even after Class 10, board exams were not required.
Sibal said the HRD
ministry will consult and take into confidence the state education boards before
taking
